Premise: What are Cookies and why are they used?
Cookies (literally biscuits) are simple text files that a website can download onto your computer, tablet, smartphone or other device of the user through the browser (the program you use to navigate, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox or Chrome).
They contain basic information on Internet browsing and thanks to the browser they are recognized every time the user visits the site, so as not to have to reselect some options such as language, font size or other, thus allowing to implement advanced features, improving the browsing experience and "enhancing" the pages and services offered.
The technique of cookies to have a "memory" of the user's passages and also collect statistical data has been used for a long time in IT, but over time it has been used in a diversified way, also aimed at tracking browsing habits, thus defining a virtual profile.
These files (cookies) can therefore be used for various purposes, so we must distinguish cookies according to their purpose and use.
Types of Cookies
- Technical Cookies: totally harmless are used to implement the correct functioning of the site itself, and are in turn distinguished into two categories.
- persistent: Once the browser is closed, they are not destroyed but remain until a preset expiry date or until the user deletes them;
- of session: They are destroyed every time the browser is closed.
- Analytical and Profiling Cookies: they are used to track browsing habits and to collect data on the user, usually used for the purpose of tracing a virtual identity and thus propose targeted advertising and products.
- Third Party Cookies: are cookies used and downloaded onto your device by third-party companies and sites that integrate functionality on the site you are browsing, often with the aim of collecting statistical data or, such as the Google Analytics statistics system or Facebook social plugins.
How to block cookies?
Given that cookies, especially technical ones, are completely harmless
and do not even fall under the legislation for the protection of privacy, cookie technology
is strictly linked to your browser and you can block them through its
settings.
We also suggest you use anonymous browsing (which can always be activated from your
